ACH on Payment Links - FAQ

What is ACH on Payment Links?

ACH lets your customers pay a Payment Link directly from a bank account instead of a credit or debit card. When your merchant account supports ACH, the Payment Link shows both a Card option and a Bank Account (ACH) option.

How do I know if ACH is available on my account?

Your merchant account appears as “(Cards & ACH)” in the account selector. If you do not see this label, ACH is not enabled on your account yet. Contact your Merchant Service Provider to request it.

Do I need to turn ACH on for each Payment Link?

No. Once your merchant account supports ACH, every Payment Link created from that merchant account automatically offers both Card and Bank Account (ACH). There is no per-link toggle.

Is there a fee for accepting ACH payments?

If your account has a convenience fee configured, it applies when a customer pays by ACH. Your customer sees the fee amount before paying, and it appears as a separate charge on their bank statement.

My customer says they were charged twice. What happened?

This is expected when a convenience fee applies. One charge is the payment amount and the other is the convenience fee, which is collected separately from the payment.

Are convenience fees refunded if I refund or void the payment?

No. Convenience fees are not refunded when an ACH payment is voided or refunded.

Does the Cash Discount / Dual Pricing adjustment apply to ACH payments?

No. Surcharge and Cash Discount / Dual Pricing adjustments apply to card payments only. ACH payments are always charged the base price. On an open-amount link with Dual Pricing enabled, the green “Cash Price” indicator is hidden when ACH is available, since ACH already reflects the unadjusted price.

How long does an ACH payment take to process?

The transaction shows as paid immediately, but funds typically take a few business days to fully process. SwipeSimple checks the payment status nightly and updates the transaction if the payment ultimately fails.

What happens if an ACH payment fails after it already showed as paid?

Unlike an invoice, which automatically reopens to Unpaid, a Payment Link doesn't expire or close upon use. You and your customer each will receive a decline email: your customer's email includes a “Submit Payment Again” link to retry the payment, and yours includes a “View Transaction Details” link to the transaction.

Can I void an ACH payment?

Yes, within 5 days of the payment. After 5 days, only Refund is available. If you try to void outside the window, you will see an error and can select Refund instead.

Can I issue a partial refund on an ACH payment?

No. ACH refunds must be for the full amount. Partial refunds are not supported, and a refunded ACH transaction cannot then be voided.

What is a return, and how is it different from a decline?

A return happens when a payment is accepted and then reversed by the customer's bank, for example due to insufficient funds. Returned ACH payments are marked as Declined, and the transaction details show the return code and description. As with a failed settlement; your customer receives a decline email with a Submit Payment Again link.

How do I find all my ACH payments in the transaction table?

Open the transaction table, apply the Paid By filter, and select ACH. ACH Payment Link transactions show Method: Payment Link and Paid By: ACH.

Where can I see ACH totals in my reporting?

ACH payments are included in the Total Net ACH column of the Sales Report. For more detailed ACH reporting, including returns, use the ACH processor's (Nuvei) Merchant Reporting Portal; access is managed by your Merchant Service Provider.

What does an ACH receipt look like?

The receipt shows a masked bank account number in place of a card number, and card-specific sections are removed. The payment method still displays as Payment Link.

Are there any places ACH is not accepted?

ACH is not accepted for billing addresses in the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, or Palau. This only applies when your account requires a billing address.
