Level II Interchange Qualification

SwipeSimple supports Level II Interchange Qualification on the Virtual Terminal, Scheduled Payments, Invoicing, and Payment Link features, which lowers interchange fees for business to business transactions. Also, FSA/HSA cards that can run as Credit cards are available for Level II.

Transactions will automatically be attempted to qualify for Level II if the merchant adds the following fields:

  • Tax (between .01% and 30%)
  • Reference Number (can be any alphanumeric combination up to 64 characters long)

Virtual Terminal & Scheduled Payments
Transactions will require Tax to be enabled with a tax rate between .01% and 30% selected and applied to the transaction. They will also require the Reference Number field to be filled out. Only the first 25 characters of the Reference number are included for Level II qualification purposes. SwipeSimple passes on this information and the processor makes the ultimate decision on whether or not the transaction qualifies for Level II Interchange.

Invoices
Invoices will require Tax to be enabled with a tax rate between .01% and 30% selected and applied to the transaction. The Reference number on an Invoice is the Invoice number. Only the first 25 characters entered in the Invoice number will be submitted for Level II qualification purposes.

Payment Links
Payment Links will require Tax to be enabled with a tax rate between .01% and 30% selected and applied to the transaction. The Reference number on a Payment Link is the first 25 characters of the Title.

Note: The processor controls whether or not a transaction ultimately qualifies for Level II and what the subsequent interchange fee is, this data is not available within SwipeSimple. Please contact your Merchant Service Provider for more information.
