Tap to Pay on iPhone

The Tap to Pay on iPhone feature for SwipeSimple allows merchants to accept contactless payments directly using their iPhone, eliminating the need for a separate card reader. When enabled, merchants can accept NFC debit/credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other digital wallets that support contactless pay.

Note: Tap to Pay without a card reader is only available on iPhone devices. Apple does not support Tap to Pay on iPads. Tap to Pay on Android is not currently available with SwipeSimple.

Requirements

  • An iPhone running iOS 17.4 or higher.
    • iPhone only, iPads are not supported.
    • An Apple Account must be logged into the device settings.
    • A passcode must be enabled for the device.
  • Participating Merchant Service Provider
    • The contact information for your Merchant Service Provider can be found in SwipeSimple.
    • On SwipeSimple mobile and terminal, select the sidebar menu and choose Settings. In the Support section, select the first option which is the name of your Merchant Service Provider and you will find their phone number listed.
    • From SwipeSimple Web, click on the question mark in the bottom righthand corner and select 'Learning and Support' to find the phone number for your Merchant Service Provider.
  • Note that SwipeSimple's Tap to Pay on iPhone functionality is only available within the 50 states and is not available in US territories.

Using Tap to Pay on iPhone during a Sale/Transaction

When Tap to Pay on iPhone is enabled, merchants can use the iPhone without needing a separate reader to run a card transaction. The Tap to Pay on iPhone option appears after entering the amount and selecting Card as the Checkout option. The button's placement may vary depending on whether a Bluetooth card reader is connected, but you can always find it under the Keyed Entry button on the checkout flow as referenced in the screenshots below.
